The summer season can be tricky to get through, can't it?
The summer season is often an especially difficult time for many of the people we meet and work with who are experiencing eating disorders/disordered eating and/or body image concerns.
There's often a lot of pressure at this time of year to wear revealing or skimpy clothes, go places or do things we might not otherwise do at other times of the year, eat or drink things we don't feel comfortable with because we're socialising more or go and holiday and break our safe rituals and routines.
We can't wear our usual 'hiding' clothes because it's too warm and, if we do, it brings other people's comments with it (e.g. 'you must be sooo warm in that'; 'haven't you got anything else to wear?')
Summertime isn't always sunshine-time for those with eating disorders/disordered eating and/or body image concerns.
In fact......
It can be a total nightmare.
Rituals and routines are lost; safe behaviours are often challenged; there's the expectation to be happy and care-free; and it's often an thoroughly uncomfortable time for many.
We can support you through this time (and any time, in fact). Our specialist, supportive and encouraging therapists and dietitians understand summer time can be tricky for many with eating disorders/disordered eating and/or beody image issues.
